Getting a Barcode Scanner

by admin on September 30, 2009

The library of my alma mater, I’ve heard, just bought a set of Symbol LS2208 barcode scanners and they are currently using these for scanning the books for easy inventory as well as for the quick cataloging of what books are being borrowed and returned.

I wish I had that library service when I was still there because it would make my life as a student so much easier. Imagine, whenever I need to check out a book all I need to do is log on to the library’s website and check the title that I want. From there I would immediately know if there are any copies available and if all of them are currently out, when are the return dates so I can just go to the library on that day.

Technology really makes life easier. Who says the Internet will make the library obsolete? I believe it just makes it more accessible.
