Delete those spam comments as soon as you see them. Why? Because your blog could get banned by Google and it will take an actual Google engineer to re-install your blog in the search results.
A friend of mine greatly suspects that that’s what actually happened to his blog. His story was this:
He had consistently ranked in the top 10 search results for two of his target keywords. Then one day he checked his ranking and his site was no longer shown there. Not even on page 10 of the Google search results.
Now he had read before that spam comments can greatly affect the reputation of your blog. So what he did was, when he had actually thought of other ways, he deleted all spam comments on his blog. And after a day or two, when he checked his keywords again, his site was showing in the results, just like before!
So that was his conclusion, that spam comments should be deleted as soon as possible or else your blog could be banned or penalized by the big G.
