When was the last time you used your old notebook to keep notes?

Being a blogger myself for more than three years, I know that it is always important to have all your ideas stored in one safe place. While I have an online safe for my notes, I also use the typical notebooks and VeloBind supplies to store all my ideas and blogging plans.

Whenever a newbie asks me how to make money online, I tell him that its just easy.

Of course, as expected they would take my word literally so they would usually ask how to start making money online right away.

Here’s how I do it (based from my experience):

1. Register a domain

2. Setup a website

3. Work on that site to earn online money

Sounds easy right? These three easy steps are the most taken for granted by most of the newbies who believe in get rich quick principles. Maybe if you have the money to pay to outsource the work that needs to be done, then you would possibly get rich with your site in no time.

But the truth is, most of the people who want to make money online are those who would have little to no money to allocate in outsourcing these tasks. So that brings further frustration for those who were made believe that making money online is just easy.

I am no guru but I would say that before I earned my first dollar online, I took the liberty of learning the ropes and doing my online tasks on my own.

You might say that I wasted my precious time or that I am bragging about it. Actually, what I am proud of is that I really took some time to at least understand the basics and not depend on get rich quick schemes. I made mistakes along the way, but I remember the lessons that made me improve my blogging skills.

I have thought of this topic while I am thinking of what to write for our Blogging for Fun meme called “Fun Friday”. Since we are to write something that starts with letter ‘G’ then I thought of Group Blogging as a good topic.

Are you into Group Blogging?

Yes, I am for a time. But I didn’t get to interact much with my fellow bloggers for sometime. And this is very important if you are into Group Blogging.

Group Blogging Defined

As for me, group blogging is a collaborative blogging activity. So you start it by forming a certain group (whether formal or informal) and working on a specific task at hand to achieve results. You can do this using a single blog (with articles written by different authors) to publish your posts or individual members will only talk about a specific topic and will publish it in their own blogs.

Group Blogging involves working with great blogger's minds

You can talk about these things to your fellow members before starting any group blogging project.

• Purpose
• Topic
• Method
• Evaluation

Purpose

What’s in it for the bloggers to participate in this group blogging activity? You can discuss this to your fellow bloggers so you can set expectations as to the goal of your blogging efforts. Are you doing this to add spice to your content, discuss a specific topic using different points of view, share link love or fill in the gaps in your blogging activity? Take your pick. Make sure that this will be clarified before you move on to the next step.

Topic

Set the theme before you go ahead and write it. It can be imposed by the leader of the group bloggers or the members can pitch in their suggestions and choose among those topics as their final pick. I believe that this collaborative blogging activity will be more successful if members will be given a chance to choose their preferred topic to encourage more participation from their members.

Method

Let’s go back to the definition above. You can vote on whether you will use a single blog or member’s blogs for publishing your stuff. Will you adhere to a specific publishing schedule or will just observe a time table instead?

Evaluation

After you publish your work online, you can do a variation of appreciating your fellow member’s work through posting comments, promoting them through various social networks and linking to their post, among others. This will highly encourage them to keep participating and even promote this activity to other people, thus bringing in more members in the process.

Have you thought of using Pacquiao-Hatton fight to write a blog post?

I just thought of it now. I just turned the TV on as I am writing this post. I’ve never been a fan of boxing. But from as far as I can remember, I have been watching Paquiao’s fight here on free TV since he was made known to be the Philippines’ pride in boxing.

Before I went here I saw a lot of streamers outside inviting people to watch it in pay-per-view. If you’re here in the Philippines, you have to fork over almost $10 on regular establishments like restos and dining halls. It can go as high as $15-$30, depending on the location (and if free meals and drinks are included in the package).

This event also affects some call center operations as they receive a lot of calls in relation to this fight. I even heard some agents talking about their bet and almost everyone seem to be an instant boxing expert as they strongly share their opinions about it.

Let’s see if this event will also hit YouTube in the coming days.

But what I know now is a lot of people all over the globe are glued on TV, even bloggers, while waiting for the best time to write a blog post in relation to this event.

The ease of making a ‘copy and paste’ for photos and other images to use in our blogs or websites has led to a rampant violation of copyrighted materials. Unless specified, all images are the properties of their respective owners and they should be asked for permission each time their images are to be used in any manner.

But what about us simple and not-so-rich bloggers? How can we get beautiful images without spending a dime? Well we can always ask the owners of copyrighted works if we could use their photographs or images but often, that would cost us money. There is however, a simpler and completely legal way. It is through the help of Flickr and Creative Commons.org.

Go to this link of Flickr that features works that are under the Creative Commons license. There are thousands of images there that you are free to use granted that you respect the different copyrights of the images.

All of these images require an Attribution and based on the respective licenses, they can be allowed to be creatively changed or manipulated resulting to a deriviation from the original image. Again, this is allowed as long as it is specified in the license.

So go over there and make use of those lovely images. Just don’t forget to make the proper Attribution.

• Use striking color combinations on your blog template

Do you really want to make money online? If you do, then make sure to come up with an original content on all your blog posts.

I’ve been into personal blogging since 2003 and professional blogging since March this year. Everytime I write a post, I am thinking of my blogging purpose. That inspires me to put my heart and make the most out of blogging about my ideas.

That’s why it really bothers me when I read posts from bloggers about their content copied entirely by another blogger. This unjust act just under utilizes the copycat’s intellect.

This brings me to check out Copyscape. You can place the banner on your blog to warn plagiarists from copying your content. You can also take advantage of their paid service so you can be informed right away if these copycats did a bad job again.
