I really hate spam. But since these spammers seem so unstoppable, I am trying various ways to really pin them down.

And since I failed to activate Akismet wordpress plugin, I tried to check some more available WP plugins that fulfills the same tasks.

That’s when I noticed the Math Comment Spam plugin. This makes commenting for spammers a lot harder because you have to answer a simple question to continue posting comments on the blog.

But if you are a legit blogger and are not meant to spam then you will find this additional plugin really protective of bloggers like us. Is this something that you already have activated on your WP blogs?

Whenever a newbie asks me how to make money online, I tell him that its just easy.

Of course, as expected they would take my word literally so they would usually ask how to start making money online right away.

Here’s how I do it (based from my experience):

1. Register a domain

2. Setup a website

3. Work on that site to earn online money

Sounds easy right? These three easy steps are the most taken for granted by most of the newbies who believe in get rich quick principles. Maybe if you have the money to pay to outsource the work that needs to be done, then you would possibly get rich with your site in no time.

But the truth is, most of the people who want to make money online are those who would have little to no money to allocate in outsourcing these tasks. So that brings further frustration for those who were made believe that making money online is just easy.

I am no guru but I would say that before I earned my first dollar online, I took the liberty of learning the ropes and doing my online tasks on my own.

You might say that I wasted my precious time or that I am bragging about it. Actually, what I am proud of is that I really took some time to at least understand the basics and not depend on get rich quick schemes. I made mistakes along the way, but I remember the lessons that made me improve my blogging skills.

I have thought of this topic while I am thinking of what to write for our Blogging for Fun meme called “Fun Friday”. Since we are to write something that starts with letter ‘G’ then I thought of Group Blogging as a good topic.

Are you into Group Blogging?

Yes, I am for a time. But I didn’t get to interact much with my fellow bloggers for sometime. And this is very important if you are into Group Blogging.

Group Blogging Defined

As for me, group blogging is a collaborative blogging activity. So you start it by forming a certain group (whether formal or informal) and working on a specific task at hand to achieve results. You can do this using a single blog (with articles written by different authors) to publish your posts or individual members will only talk about a specific topic and will publish it in their own blogs.

Group Blogging involves working with great blogger's minds

You can talk about these things to your fellow members before starting any group blogging project.

• Purpose
• Topic
• Method
• Evaluation

Purpose

What’s in it for the bloggers to participate in this group blogging activity? You can discuss this to your fellow bloggers so you can set expectations as to the goal of your blogging efforts. Are you doing this to add spice to your content, discuss a specific topic using different points of view, share link love or fill in the gaps in your blogging activity? Take your pick. Make sure that this will be clarified before you move on to the next step.

Topic

Set the theme before you go ahead and write it. It can be imposed by the leader of the group bloggers or the members can pitch in their suggestions and choose among those topics as their final pick. I believe that this collaborative blogging activity will be more successful if members will be given a chance to choose their preferred topic to encourage more participation from their members.

Method

Let’s go back to the definition above. You can vote on whether you will use a single blog or member’s blogs for publishing your stuff. Will you adhere to a specific publishing schedule or will just observe a time table instead?

Evaluation

After you publish your work online, you can do a variation of appreciating your fellow member’s work through posting comments, promoting them through various social networks and linking to their post, among others. This will highly encourage them to keep participating and even promote this activity to other people, thus bringing in more members in the process.

Have you heard the latest news about Entrecard? Check out the latest message included as part of the email sent to their Entrecarders today:

To ensure a stable credit economy and reduce the outstanding credits, Entrecard will no longer give Entrecard credits to the person receiving a drop. In other words, instead of awarding 2 credits for each drop (one to the dropper and one to the blog site owner), only 1 credit will be given to the dropper. This change will be effective September 1, 2009 and will last until further notice.

Okay, this will make the droppers happier because they will reap more Entrecard credits as they visit the blogs frequently. On the other hand, this will make the visited blogs get traffic still, although, they will only add some credits to their account if they will also reciprocate the drops and visit some more blogs to get some more points.

If you have been reading this blog for sometime, you already knew that I had my own share of blogging mistakes and challenges. One of my challenges is when I almost have to start developing this blog all over again in terms of traffic because I moved from blogspot to self hosted wordpress.

And when I checked my Alexa stats, that’s when I’ve found out that I have to start promoting again from scratch now that I have a different url for my blog.

Anyway, those were the days of learning. I still am learning a lot and am open to know more about blogging, but I felt happy when I checked my Alexa traffic stats and I saw a great improvement from its traffic, thus I already added the widget on my blog’s sidebar.

I got a break from Twitting last weekend with Twirivia.

When I saw this last week I really look closer on the monitor to check if I really see the texts right. You see, since Twitter became so viral online, everyone wanted to have their share of a website inspired by this social networking site.

So there, it was confirmed that I am looking at Twrivia website. Check this out:

How is Twrivia different from Twitter?

Unlike other Twitter inspired sites, Twrivia can definitely offer another Twitter experience. Instructions are very simple. First, make sure that you already have a twitter account then go to Twrivia.com.

Once you’re there, you have to follow twitter.com/twrivia, wait for the question to appear on the website and then twit your answer to @twrivia.

Remember that you have to make it quick because only the first five tweeple who provided the correct answer will be awarded with equivalent points.

Why do I need to be crazy about getting these points?

Simple. Getting these points will make you earn spots on their leaderboard which will show your face and twitter nick. So this means more exposure for you and your online business.

If you are a blogger, you can also attract some blog traffic. This works especially when you are using your blog’s name for a Twitter username.

What if I like the old way of Twitting to expose my online biz?

Well, just like what I mentioned, using Twrivia works like taking a short break from your usual twitting habits. So if you are up to their challenge, you can spend some time on that site and start answering their entries. You can go back anyway to your fave Twitter application anytime.

Yahoo! I feel so overwhelmed by knowing that this blog is up again, for good using WordPress platform.

I consider this as one of my great birthday present.

So now that I have this online again, I would have to do a lot of things tonight. I will have to set the categories manually. So this means that I have to do this for 90++ times before I can finally trim the categories for this online diva blog.

Next, I would have to choose the template that I have to use for this blog. But I cannot upload the template yet, I would have to ask my boyfriend Johann to do that for me, as I  am challenged to work with WordPress Cpanel.

After I have my desired template visible on this blog, I will add the rest of the needed widgets and start to make some connections again through blog commenting and blog hopping.

I really appreciate the patience of some online friends who are as excited as I in having this blog go ‘live’ again. Just give me some more time and I will make it up to you.

Now that’s a quote from “Fields of Dreams” and it has often been applied to blogging. I encountered one person in a certain forum who is very new to this whole blogging phenomenon. He asked a question as to why is his blog still not getting many traffic (I’m not sure what is his standard of the word ‘many’) considering that his blog is already 3 months’ old.

Three months, do you guys think that is already a good enough time to expect much from a blog? In my opinion it’s not enough. And I don’t know the details of this fellow’s blogging habits but I’m sure that the reason why he is not satisfied is because he set quite a high standard on his blog. His goal might be too hard to reach. Perhaps he’s already expecting thousands of regular visitors. But at 3 months, I’d really say dream on.

There is so much work to be done with a blog especially if you expect to earn from it. Number one would be posting valuable content on a regular basis. Valuable content because what good is a blog if all that can be read on it are pure trash? And posting on a regular basis is important because if you fail to update your blog, you will lose your visitors.

That’s just my two cents on this blogging topic.

Do:

• Post nonsense stuff
• Ignore fellow bloggers request for link exchange(s)
• Use striking color combinations on your blog template
• Fill your blog’s empty space with too much clutter
• Use the smallest and or the biggest font on your posts
• Spam people as you invite them to read your blog
• Bore you and your readers to death with your post
• Mention all your points in one paragraph
• Use too much jargon, deadwood phrases and gobbledygook terms
• Pass the idea of coming up with a pillar post

Don’t:

• Submit your blog to blog directories and feedreaders
• Post your blogroll
• Interact with fellow bloggers (online and offline)
• Think about your blog’s theme
• Leave a message on their CBOX and or ShoutMix
• Think of doing guest posts on other related blogs
• Use Plurk and Twitter to promote your blogging activities
• Use keywords to mirror your blog’s theme
• Claim your blogs in Technorati
• Check your Alexa blog traffic stats
• Join Entrecard
• Look for Blog Carnival Projects

I called it a day. That was after my fourth attempt to drop EC’s back on some blogs that visited 24×7 Online Diva. Don’t worry, I was able to drop some on other blogs but I can’t continue for the rest because it took a lot of time for those blogs to load. The worst thing was that I had to reboot my laptop several times because it froze while waiting for their pages to load on my console.

Of course I won’t identify those blogs here. If this will continue to happen, I wonder how many visitors will proceed to the next blog instead because of too much waiting time. This will definitely prevent them from making money online.
